Budget Buys: Decorations for All Occasions

Posted by Unknown on Monday, January 17, 2011

Every kind of celebration, be it a birthday or New Year's Eve, calls for colorful decorations. Decorations are as important as having sumptuous food for a feast as they set the tone for the occasion. But there are so many celebrations every year and each one calls for a different theme. This is understandable but you need money to pull them all off. And even small purchases become taxing when they are too frequent.

The best solution is to purchase decorations which are useful for more than one celebration. Here are some tips on how to re-use decorations.

Christmas lights

Just because they are called 'Christmas' lights doesn't mean they should be used during December exclusively. Even for ordinary parties, like birthdays or graduation, these lights can add color and brightness to lawns, living rooms, or poolside areas.

Lanterns

Lanterns can create an Asian feel, a spooky mood, or a romantic ambiance. The ones worth buying are those that can be redesigned for each occasion. For instance cutouts like witches and pumpkins for Halloween, stars for Christmas, and hearts for Valentine's Day can be placed accordingly and taken out after the event. Some lanterns come with interchangeable covers which are really good too. To make storage of these lanterns easier consider buying the fold-able types.

Christmas balls

Christmas balls can decorate a table just as much as any Christmas tree. Stacked and arranged creatively, they can be a great centerpiece. A centerpiece can be useful for formal dinners, parties, or just about any day of the week when you want to impress someone special. These balls can also be hung to form a chandelier, wreath, or wall decorations for any number of occasions.

National Flag

A flag does not have to be limited to being displayed on your nation's day of celebration. It can also be proudly hoisted for everyone to see on any patriotic day, or any other day of the year for that matter. Flag displaying isn't only for veterans, keeping a flag in your home shows your unquestionable patriotism and is viewed by others as proof of nationalism and pride.

Confetti

Starting and ending a celebration with a bang, literally, calls for confetti. It can be used for a birthday party, bachelor's party, or on Christmas and New Year's Eve. But to prevent you from having to borrow money every time you need to buy this party popper, you can make your own confetti popper or buy a re-loadable one.

With these year-round decoration ideas everyone can host regular festive celebrations without having to worry about the decoration budget.
